Shelterbelt

A shelterbelt is a row of trees that separate fields from the wind for controlling erosion. They define space in the plains of the midwest and these horizontal bands become the only and first place your eye stops as you look towards a low flat horizon.

This short video began as a question collated with images and presented at DesignInquiry, then I presented it at the first Pecha Kucha in Portland, Maine. Now the questions about a human-geography becoming an aesthetic DNA lives in this short movie. Enjoy.

I love this piece, Margo. I keep thinking about experience and pause.

#GoT Pretty proud of my mending, no, --reconstruction-- of my Patagonia shorts circa 1980 that @cornfrickindog now wears. She felt they were becoming a little too fragile. She inherited them this summer (basement clean out), they were barely holding together. My Sears Kenmore still rocks a zig-zag, all the while it was memory lane through the 80's, into the 90's with those shorts. Now they're kind of like a suggestion of canvas shapes sewn onto denim chunks that make up the 'real' shorts. @patagonia #searskenmore #sewing #mending #heirlooms Taking a peek at the summer of love
